Prayer murmurs

About 60 leaders and members gathered at church last night to plan for the next few months.  I am looking forward to this Easter season.  I am REALLY looking forward to the Week of Witness coming up in early June.  This is shaping up to be one incredible week.

As good as the meeting was – and it was good – it was what happened at the end that really moved me.  Splitting up into smaller groups, we closed the meeting by praying for the needs of each of our ministries.  As I sat in the middle of the fellowship hall I was overwhelmed at the sound of prayers all around.  Most prayed in quiet tones so words were hard to hear.  But it was obvious that people were talking to God.  And that those prayers were quite serious.  The mixing of voices and emotions was absolutely beautiful.

When Christ cleaned house (temple) He said, “My house shall be a house of prayer.”  Out with the scammers.  In with the pray-ers.  This was not a suggestion.  It was a statement.  A command.  The way it should be.

Last night was the way it should be.  We need more of that.
