Prayer Requests & Updates

March 23, 2012

Dear NEBC Family,

Thank you again for your prayers and concerns. Here it is one year later since Paul was diagnosed with cancer.  It’s been rough, but your prayers and God’s love and strength has given us hope to carry on.

Recently we were told that we no longer have a donor.  This was disappointing, but we also know that God is still at work with His perfect plan for Paul, so no matter the trial — it’s His will, His timing.

“Be still and know that I am God” and I am still here loving you.

Praise! Huge answer to prayer! Paul’s team of doctors met yesterday and are leaning towards moving ahead with the transplant! They will meet again on Tuesday to make their final decision. Please pray for this team of doctors as they determine the best course of treatment for Paul. We continue to pray that Paul will be able to receive the transplant surgery very soon.

  • Paul’s MRI on Tuesday showed that the cancer in his liver is growing.  This is very discouraging news.  Paul and Judy are waiting to hear back from the doctors about the course of treatment.  We don’t know yet what impact this will have on the transplant.
  • Pray that Paul and Judy will hear back from the doctors today or tomorrow.
  • Pray for relief from pain and discomfort.  Paul had a very difficult day yesterday.
  • Pray that Paul can adequately eat and drink today.
  • Pray for warmth – especially for Paul’s hands and feet.
  • Pray for Judy’s physical stamina as she cares for Paul and works part-time.
  • Pray for Judy’s emotional health; yesterday’s news about the MRI was very hard on Judy.
  • Pray that Paul and Judy will draw close to God today and that their connection with Him will grow stronger, even though many prayers have seemingly gone unanswered.
  • Praise God that a living donor has been identified.  Pray for this woman and her family as she prepares to donate part of her liver to Paul.

January 16, 2012

  • Pray for relief from pain and discomfort.
  • Pray that Paul can adequately eat and drink today.
  • Pray for warmth – especially for Paul’s hands.
  • Pray for Judy’s physical stamina as she works part-time today and then cares for Paul this afternoon and tonight.
  • Pray for Judy’s emotional health; she is very fragile and running on empty.
  • Pray that Paul and Judy will draw close to God today and that their connection with Him will grow stronger, even though many prayers have seemingly gone unanswered.
  • Praise God that a living donor has been identified.  Pray for this woman and her family as she prepares to donate part of her liver to Paul.
  • Praise God that the cancer in Paul’s liver responded to treatment last fall.  Paul is scheduled for an MRI on January 31 to determine if the cancer is in remission or if it is active again.  This MRI will likely be the determining factor for whether or not Paul will receive the transplant

Merry Christmas! Rejoice for He is the reason for the season, the reason for our strenth and the reason for our Salvation. Paul and I want to thank you all once again for a year full of prayers and love. There have been some disappointments along the way, but they were followed by God’s abundant blessings.

As you all know, the doctors have decided to wait a few more months before the decision on a transplant. So we will wait and continue to draw our strength from God for it is His will that will prevail.

Have a very Merry Christmas.

We love you all,
Paul and Judy

Paul’s team of doctors have decided to postpone the transplant surgery for three more months.  This was a discouraging setback since the surgery was supposed to take place early January but now won’t be until Spring.

Please continue to pray for Paul’s strength and that he would be pain free.  Also pray for Judy as she is returning to work next week part-time.  Thank you for your continued prayers and support!

November 16, 2011

Pastor Paul will have an MRI on Monday, 11/21 and will receive the results on Wednesday, 11/23.  The MRI results will determine when and if the doctors will proceed with the live liver transplant.

Thank you so much for all the prayers, support and cards. Thank you for the many meals my wife and I have enjoyed. We are so thankful for all that has been done for us. Your tender loving kindness through everything that has taken place has brought joy to our hearts. We are now waiting for the MRI which is scheduled for late November to determine the size of the tumor so that we may proceed with the transplant. We know that God is in control and we put our worries and concerns in His hands. It is only through Him that we are content.

Thank you again in His precious name,
Pastor Paul and Judy Zagrobski

  • Paul’s liver transplant is scheduled for early December.
